In Your Bones

Born and blasted into the world you’re a baby brain with wide eyes, chubby legs, and cloudy thoughts. Mom lifts you and picks you, eyes open and close, and fogs rise and settle. Tears stream and faces scream as your swirling brain twists and turns into thoughts…

Nothing makes sense till it does.

Nothing feels right till it does.

Chalk raps on blackboards beside times tables, language stirs sounds into sentences, and stories send you flying into faraway worlds. Book reports and homework inspections, chemistry labs and biology dissections, all fill your spinning brain with numbers and theories and thoughts…

Nothing makes sense till it does.

Nothing feels right till it does.

Teenage sleepovers and late night walks, summertime camps and suppertime talks, keep expanding your mind and your understanding of the world. First kisses and first touches, first fights and first blushes, all fill your heart with dreams, expand your brain’s book shelf, and get you thinking about a life below the surface of yourself.

Nothing makes sense till it does.

Nothing feels right till it does.

But … sometimes challenging lectures or scattering friends, confusing debates without exams at the end, can frighten your mind and scare dreams away, can frighten your life and trade tomorrows for todays. Family pressures and social graces, broken promises from trusted faces, could suddenly swirl you upside down and scatter your mind or dim your heart…

When nothing makes sense …

When nothing feels right …

When it gets scary to realize…

There are no instructions in life…

That’s when it’s time to stop, it’s time to think, it’s time to pause, it’s time to blink. When you hit the end of the year open your eyes and look behind you. When you hit the end of the year open your eyes and look inside you.

Because today you’re right here …

And there’s so far to go …

And today there’s still fear …

But there’s only one way to know …

Feel it in your bones, feel it in your bones, feel it in your bones.

Feel your bones to move forward, feel your bones to move on, feel your bones to forget, feel your bones to carry on… just feel your bones to say you’re sorry, feel your bones to show you care, feel your bones to choose tomorrow, and feel those bones to get you there.

Because when your world sorts itself out, when your head moves aside, when your heart thumps up front, when that blood bubbles inside, well that’s when you know, that’s when you see, that’s when you finally become what you were meant to be.

So whatever you’re thinking about today …. stop trying to choose and choose. Whatever you’re searching for today just look inside for clues. Yes, whatever you’re thinking about just stop and feel instead. Cause when you feel it in your bones you can smile and forget your head.

Nothing makes sense till it does.

Nothing feels right till it does.

Nothing makes sense till you feel it.

Nothing feels right till you know.

Come What May

There's no need to rush to get there.
You are where you are supposed to be.
Just breathe and be

Life is funny, it has a secret way of getting you exactly where you are meant to be. Sometimes the best things come out of the least expected. I am a firm believer that you can't search or force things to happen; when the time is right it will find you and that's usually after you've stopped looking....

It's crazy to think of the life path I have taken but nevertheless I would be a completely different person if I had made different choices; life is just a chain reaction. I would have lived out different dreams and had other ambitions. My path to move away from home and come back again has brought me many friendships that I treasure so much.

I don't regret one single decision I have made because I am so happy with the life I live and the people in it. I sense a lot of good things coming my way...

...everything happens for a reason

My Apologies

After re-reading my previous blog post I realize what I wrote could very easily have been taken out of context. There is no other word I take so much offense to than the word "snob". I never claimed to be a professional writer, I'm simply someone brave enough to voice my thoughts over the internet; when you do that you're bound to ruffle some feathers.

For clarification;

A) "going to school with people who inspired me to dress better" -- I simply meant going to school with individuals who expressed their quirky styles in unique ways; they gave me outfit inspiration. Seeing out of the box dressing helped inspire me to add to my own daily outfits. I'm vocal about "sweatpants & ugg boots" but I would NEVER critize and single someone out over wearing them; to each their own.

B) "as usual I'm always the most "over dressed" person -- I'm tired of going places and being judged for the extra attention spent on my outfit selection; I like to get dressed up. I did not mean to sound like I was putting myself above anyone else. There is no happiness in thinking you are too good for places or people and if you've gotten that from my blog I'm truly sorry you haven't been able to look beyond the surface.

Like It Or Not

Top:Susie; Skirt:H&M; Belt:Unknown

A question I get asked a lot is "why did you move back here?"; here being my small hometown as opposed to living in Vancouver. I face the disgruntle stares and reply to the "this city has nothing to offer you" with the same response... Sometimes you need to move away to realize what you've got; you find out the things you want to live with in life and the things you can do without.

For me, my realization was that even in all the glamor of a big city, as fun as the frivolous events and fashion shows were, it was a life I could not live forever. To some my biggest downfall is I like my family too much. I'm happy living close to them and I seem to survive by bringing the party to where ever I go. The best part is I have a great familia on the coast I can pack up and visit anytime.

I love fashion and going back to my roots doesn't alter my desire to aspire in the industry any less; perhaps it pushes me more.
Success doesn't come from a city. You have to go out there and make it for yourself. There is nothing more gratifying than succeeding in the place that no one expects you too. For people who don't believe in me I thank them, it only makes me want it that much more.

Fabulous Father

Tank:Poof; Jean:FlyingMonkey; Shoes:Spring;
Bracelets:ALDO; Necklace:Spring

Like I said before, I am very blessed with two awesome parents who love me very much.

My Dad and I became especially close when I moved away from home; talking morning, noon and night VIA text and iChat on our computers. We had long discussions about bus routes and PhotoShop projects; and he always provided the comfort of home on lonely nights.

He's always been the number one supporter of me; wild crazy dreams & all. Here of some of our latest pictures which involved a day trip out out into the prairies in search of an old ghost town.

My World

I'm realizing more and more what a messed up world we live in.
Has it always been this way, only now I'm more aware?

As I reflect on my graduating class, close to half are married or have children. Should I be concerned or thankful that I'm single? Maybe it's just what happens in a small city; or maybe it's what happens when people are afraid of seeing what is on the other side of the bubble they live in.

I guess love these days is if you've known each other 3 months and have yet to find out those freakish qualities of your other half. I'm sorry, after 3 months you just don't know someone. Even after 3 years you can still not know someone.

We all want to find someone to share our lives with, I just don't see the reason to meet and marry before you're legal in the United States. Call me crazy, but last time I checked I was only 20. If I live to be 80, there is no chance in hell I could spend 60 years waking up to the same person each and everyday. There's more to life than rushing to your happily ever after. You might just find it's not always so happy.

I'm not done finding my own way in this world and maybe I am the crazy one, because I believe you have to love and understand yourself before you can love and understand someone else...

Where I Stood

I don't know what I've done
Or if I like what I've begun
But something told me to run
And honey you know me
it's all or none

There were sounds in my head
Little voices whispering
That I should go and this should end
Oh and I found myself listening

See I thought love was black and white
That it was wrong or it was right
But you ain't leaving without a fight
And I think I am just as torn inside

'Cos I don't know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you
All I know is that I should
'Cos she will love you more than I could
She who dares to stand where I stood

And I won't be far from where you are if ever you should call
You meant more to me than anyone I ever loved at all
But you taught me how to trust myself and so I say to you
This is what I have to do...

Change Your Heart...

I'm desperately sorry, I feel like I have been neglecting my followers for quite sometime now. It's been busy with lots on the go but at least I have school out of the way, well for 2 weeks.I promise there are lots of exciting events in my future for me to blog about, so hang in there just a little longer.

Some times it's good to sit back & realize what makes you happy and learn what you can do without.
The picture I found is cute and reflective of my life these days. I have had a change of heart and deeply driven myself into fashion; really great things have come out of it, one being my blog and the lovely comments from you readers.

Who Wore It Best...

While I was in Vancouver I realized I am not shy... at all.
I don't really know why I ever considered myself to be shy in the first place.

What led me to this realization was the fact that I approached a lady on a street corner after noticing she had the same scarf as me. It turned into a great conversation and I managed to get a picture out of it. Turns out she is a writer for a travel magazine.

Just goes to show you, you never know who is walking beside you and there is no harm in stepping out of your comfort zone every now and then.

I apologize for going MIA on you. I made an impromptu decision to head out to Vancouver, my home away from home, for the weekend. My good friend helped me pull off a wonderful surprise since no one knew I was coming.

It was an amazing 5 days with lots of laughter, fashion & a whole lot of edge. The best part of going back was realizing that nothing has changed and some friendships can pick up right where they left off...

I returned home with some fierce new songs, a new list of outfit ideas and of course loads of photos.

Boys, Boys, Boys

I'm not an expert in Men's Fashion, but I will try anything to see the removal of an over-populated, tattoo like brand. If you know what I'm talking about, you are sick of seeing bedazzled, too-tight t-shirts wandering down the street as well. Unless you are appearing in the next episode of
Jersey Shore, they are not appropriate under any other circumstances.

Any girl
will tell, you she wants to bring home Mr. Right in his slim fitting, dark wash jeans & a nice cardigan/sport coat.

The key with fashion is choosing classics not trends. Trendy = Chauchy. In the words of The Starving Stylist "choose fit+quality over labels". I don't care who you are wearing as long as it looks nice.

I definitely do not want to see designer written all over your outfit. If you're hiding behind labels there may be deeper issues you are trying to cover. Be comfortable without name brands but know when to enjoy them as well.

Dress to Impress

Blazer:Sashimi ; Blouse:La Classe Couture; Skirt:Wilfred; Necklace:Thrift Shop

I'm not really a believer in
"Casual Friday's". Lately it seems people are pushing the envelope with how casual they can dress; casual Friday's have now turned into casual Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday... etc.

I'm not saying you need to show up in heels everyday, but if you reflect through your past week of outfits and you wore something below casual attire, I'm talking leisure wear, several times out of the house; we have a problem.

As I have said before,
"dressing to impress, creates success". If you have a role of authority how do you expect anyone to take you seriously. I always love when the student looks better than half of the teachers.

I guess I find it sad that in society today, no one seems to take pride in themselves and what they wear. I should have been born in the 1950's when nobody left the house looking less than perfect.

Feelin' Real Good.. Can You Blame Me?

"There's nowhere you can be that isn't meant to be"

Life continues to amaze/surprise me each and everyday.
I'm sincerely happy with where I am at and the amazing people I have in my life -- some who are
extra wonderful.

Everything truly happens for a reason and I'm grateful for the huge step back/reflection I have had to take over the last few months. My outfits have become extra fierce and I've never felt more positive. If socialite status was available in this city I would definitely be on the list. It's time to focus on MissMegan and I feel like I am on the edge of something great.

It's funny how things&people come in and out of your life; and how the strangest paths cross. I love looking back and understanding that everything I have been through has gotten me to where I am today. Every decision I have made has lead me here and right now
here is exactly where I want to be.

Walk, Walk, Fashion Baby

The world is your runway.
What will you show up in?

The new year means the start of a new semester at school. Once again I will not fall into the temptation of what seems to be the "college girl uniform"; consisting of sweat pants, Uggs and a messy hair bun.

Everyday is a fashion show. Yes, I am the girl rockin' thigh high boots, tights and a blazer to the grocery store.

Once you step out of your house, you step onto your own little stage for all to see. You never know who will be in the audience, and I for one do not want to run into, Mister Right or Mister Job Opportunity, looking like I would rather be in bed.

The clothing we wear is so much more than protection from the elements. It directly expresses our values, persona and self image.

However, no matter what you wear, the number one fashion accessory you must ALWAYS carry with you... is a great big smile.

"People seldom notice old clothes if you wear a big smile"-- Lee Mildon
